Roscoe Tanner skips again

After he was served with a court order finding him in contempt of a Georgia court in May, 2010, Roscoe Tanner skipped from his home in Florida, hiding out in the area of Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts at the home of a friend.

He was tracked there the last week of June, 2010, and the authorities were notified, but while they were enroute, he skipped again, this time surfacing in Tiftonia, Tennessee, where a former fan spotted him on a boat in the Tennessee River Saturday July 4 near Brown's Ferry Marina.

The fan called in a tip to our Tanner Tracker Hotline, the sighting was verified by a law enforcement source in the area, and again the authorities were sent to pick him up, but as is his tendency, Tanner went into hiding again.

Anyone who spots this habitual fugitive is asked to call the Tanner Tracker Hotline at 202-684-8201 anytime 24/7. Your name and number will be kept confidential, or you can call in the tip anonymously if you prefer.

Roscoe Tanner has been on the wanted list in various jurisdictions portions of eight of the past ten years, and is nearly constantly on the run. This time he is wanted by the Sheriff in Dade County, Georgia. His bond is set by the court at $750,000.00 which is indicative of the seriousness of the crime he committed by refusing to appear before that court as ordered repeatedly over the years.

It is time for any good citizen who spots him to help the authorities serve this latest warrant on him. He is said to have recently purchased a new house and a new vehicle. He has traveled over three thousand miles so far during his latest effort to evade arrest, and is apparently on the run again.

Your cooperation is requested if you see him. Simply call 202-684-8201 and provide verifiable information where you saw him (name or address of residence or hotel he is hiding out at, description and tag number of the vehicle he is driving, name of airport/airline/flight number you see him at, name of tennis club he is playing at, etc.

Roscoe Tanner on the run again

Due to his ten year pattern of recalcitrance, ignoring orders of the Dade County (Georgia) court to appear, and due to his failure to comply with orders of that same court, another warrant was signed to compel Roscoe Tanner's appearance in that court since he refused to voluntarily appear. His bond was set by the court at $750,000 to ensure his appearance at future hearings, should he desire to post bond to get out of jail, since his word that he will appear no longer has any value to the court.

The finding of the court that he was in Contempt of Court was served on Roscoe Tanner in Florida, where he now resides. Instead of appearing as ordered, he skipped the state of Florida and hid out in Massachusetts, at the home of a long-time friend, Scott Smith, who hired him to teach tennis clinics to children of wealthy residents of Martha's Vineyard island.

Roscoe got word that authorities had been tipped off to his hideout and he left suddenly within 20 minutes of finding out they were enroute. Word on the street is that he is headed to Tennessee where he has lots of fans and friends willing to harbor a fugitive.

Any citizen who knows of Roscoe Tanner's whereabouts is asked to call the Tanner Tracker Hotline, 202-684-8201 to report his location. Your tip will be kept confidential.

Tanner Inherits Millions -- Still Refuses To Pay Obligations

Roscoe Tanner's father, Leonard Roscoe Tanner, who was a successful attorney in Lookout Mountain, Georgia, passed away and his approximately $9,000,000.00 estate was distributed as directed in his Last Will and Testament which is on file with the Hamilton County Probate Court, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Approximately $2.5 million of this estate was left to Roscoe via a Trust Fund set up for him by his dad in order to shield the assets from seizure by his creditors, including mothers of his daughters, who reside in at least two different states.

Tanner still has court cases pending against him in at least two states, and has been claiming he cannot afford an attorney, and for some reason he thinks folks believe him. Remember, this is the SAME Roscoe Tanner who bought $72,000.oo worth of LUXURY SPORTS UTILITY VEHICLES in Knoxville, Tennessee and was arrested and charged there with a felony for writing a bad check for those SUVs. The charges were "dismissed" when he returned the vehicles and came up with $5,000 to make "restitution" to the dealership for the time period he had use of the vehicles.

He also had money to move to Florida (where the state laws are more protective of substantial assets) and rumor has it he is living in a new house, and working at a tennis club selling memberships and lessons. But despite a reliable income and trust fund, he is still recalcitrant and has not been making court ordered payments to the mothers of his daughters as directed.

At some point, it might be necessary for Mr. Tanner to be returned to a cell in order to get his full and complete attention. He was jailed when he didn't have any money for his repeated felonies, and used as an excuse why he should be let out of jail that he could not earn any money while incarcerated, and if the judge would only let him out, he would pay the judgments.

He has been out of prison and jail for several years now and still has money to take trips and eat in fancy restaurants and buy new houses and vehicles, but has NO money to pay his court ordered judgments, despite being left $2.5 MILLION DOLLARS.

It is time for all citizens of care and concern for his children and their welfare to write to the courts where his cases are being heard, and to DEMAND that Mr. Tanner be JAILED until such time as full and complete payment is made of any and all court judgments owed by him to the Clerk of Court as he was ordered to pay.

These cases have been open for as long as TEN YEARS and despite Mr. Tanner's being worth MILLIONS he refuses to pay the court ordered judgments and has been bragging that he is going to spend down his inheritance so that he cannot be required to pay. One of the judgments was originally value at nearly a half million dollars and Tanner pleaded poverty and had it reduced to around $60,000 and still refused to pay.

Other judgments have been ignored or settled for small amounts by his abuse of the system to suit his own nefarious purposes. It is time that Mr. Tanner meet two judges who can see through his poverty pleas and jail him UNTIL he pays since he now has the MEANS to pay and there is NO further excuse.

Roscoe Tanner Extradited to Florida

Roscoe Tanner was extradited from Knox County, TN to Florida for violation of the terms of his probation over the weekend. His mug shot is posted at: http://espn-i.starwave.com/media/apphoto/TP10111141819.jpg

When Tanner is able to satisfy the Florida authorities regarding their concerns, he will then be sent to the state of California to face contempt of court charges there regarding failure and refusal to appear in court there on failure to pay child support charges.

In the five months Tanner has been refusing to appear on the child support matter, as ordered, or to pay the amount the court ordered periodically, he earned tens of thousands of dollars from teaching tennis at classes and clinics in Europe and various states in the US. He also spent thousands of dollars, some borrowed, gambling and paying on a past due boat purchase obligation instead of paying the court ordered child support payments.

Tanner will be scheduled to appear in court on the Florida charges to answer why he refused for the past year and a half to meet with his probation officer or notify him of his current employment and residence situations. He is expected to address these issues so that he can be released to address the California warrants at the earliest possible time.

Roscoe Tanner Assigned New Extradition Hearing Date

Roscoe Tanner requested and received authorization from the court for a delay of his extradition hearing from October 24 to November 14 to allow his attorney an opportunity to raise the funds to communicate with Roscoe's victims and with the district attorney's who have extradition requests pending, toward a settlement of the outstanding charges against him.

Payment of $25,000 has already been made to one of the victims of his fraud in Florida in exchange for a signed settlement agreement. Negotiations are supposedly underway with California plaintiffs and district attorneys in both Florida and California.

Isn't is curious how a man who has been unable to pay court ordered child support obligations for such a long period of time, somehow is able to come up with $25,000.00 cash to pay past due obligations on a boat deal?

The threat of arrest and fact of incarceration sure have a way of reminding a man to fulfill the obligations he has, don't they?

Roscoe Tanner Now Awaiting Extradition In Knox County, TN

It is disappointing that Tanner would not pay even one dollar of his $100 per tennis lesson out of the 25 or so lessons he taught each week toward court ordered child support.

And when he taught tennis clinics for $2500 per clinic, he could not afford to send a $20 bill to the clerk of court to go to his kids.

And when he received $5000 celebrity appearance fees for playing in a televised match, he refused to send even $50 to his kids.

And when he received money from sales of his pictures complete with his personal autograph, he could not send a dime of it to his kids.

And when he received advance fees and promotion fees and book signing fees and royalty fees from the sale of his books, he could not find a way to send $100 now and then to his kids.

But Tanner always was able to find money to gamble away in Las Vegas and Cherokee, NC casinos.

And Runnin' Roscoe was always able to find the money to buy plane tickets when he found out there were warrants for his arrest in California, or New Jersey, or Georgia, or Florida -- leaving the jurisdiction in the nick of time to avoid arrest, staying one jump ahead of the fugitive squad for a year or two at a time.

He always seemed to find the money to rent houses in Germany, or dine in fancy European restaurants. And he always seemed to be able to find "friends" who would allow him to drive sports utility vehicles without having to make payments or buy insurance, and, in one instance, stay one jump ahead of the repo man for nine months or so.

But now, all that running has come to a halt. It is now time for Roscoe to depend upon those same friends who aided and abetted his flight from justice by hiding him out in their houses and provided him with walking around money and high paying jobs without worry of IRS liens our court ordered garnishments.

Those friends should now admit that they were hoodwinked by Roscoe and help him out of this jam by loaning him money to go directly to the clerk of court for child support.

And Roscoe himself should rise to the occasion and sign a contract in front of a judge allowing the district attorney to seize all future book royalties and photo sales revenues to be applied to past court ordered child support obligations, and to allow garnishment of all future revenue from lessons, clinics, and appearances until the past due child support is paid.

He should then be ordered to be available to his children, and provide them with a phone number that they can reach him at. And he should be ordered to visit them at least anually, or every time he is in their state of residence. This is not too much to ask of Roscoe Tanner.

His children deserve it, the taxpayers of California and the other states where his children reside deserve it, and the other non-custodial fathers who make only minimum wage and who have their wages garnished and their professional and driver's licenses revoked for non-payment of child support deserve to see Roscoe treated in a fair and equal manner as the treatment they received. And to go to jail just like they have to when they are in contempt of the court.
